A one-day Pre-applicant Consultation visit by a member of the ABHE professional staff is recommended for institutions contemplating submitting a petition for Applicant Status in the Association. The Pre-applicant Consultation visit is designed (1) to assist an institution in assessing its present compliance with the Association’s Conditions of Eligibility; (2) to offer guidance as to additional Conditions of Eligibility compliance measures; and (3) to orient administration, faculty, and trustees regarding the Association’s accreditation Standards for Accreditation and Policies and Procedures.

The consultant will review appropriate documents, interview members of the administrative team, and meet with trustees, faculty, and staff. A written report will be provided to the institution. This visit is recommended prior to review by the Commission on Accreditation for application.

Your institution will be billed a consultation fee (currently $1,000) plus travel/hospitality expenses. Where possible, efforts will be made to include visits to several institutions on each itinerary, thus reducing travel expenses.
