Music Program Director

Position Overview:

 

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Functions as the administrator of the music program providing supervision of the curriculum within the program, faculty and adjunct faculty, and the interaction and advisement of students within the program and teaches seven courses per year within the disciplines of music and worship arts. 
  • Supervises and guides the music/worship arts faculty and support staff. Counsels students with a music/worship arts major or minor. Monitors and advises administration regarding a consistent a music and worship arts philosophy across the campus (including chapel worship, traveling groups, and presentations by students within the program).
  • Assists the Dean in the recruitment and evaluation of faculty within the discipline. Advises the Library regarding acquisition and preservation of materials (print and electronic) related to the discipline.
  • Oversees the development of the curriculum within the discipline. Interacts with other program directors and faculty in order to enhance the collegiality of this higher education institution and to make decisions for the betterment of the college.

     

Qualifications:
  • Masters degree in music or worship arts from an accredited university or a masters degree in sacred music from an accredited seminary (preference for a specialization in either keyboard, vocal, or music composition).
  • Capable and committed to completing doctoral studies if one is not yet complete. Capable and committed to completing additional studies in Bible, Theology, and Worship in order to integrate the disciplines of music and worship while understanding musical trends in contemporary North American church worship. Experienced in directing ensembles and choral groups (preferable)
  • Minimum of 3 years teaching experience at the college level. Has multi-cultural worship and/or international experience along with a basic understanding of ethno-musicology.
